it's a 50/50 chance of hiavng it for life, but she won't always suffer. Actually most children who have it don't end up hiavng to deal with it in adulthood. I didn't. Sometimes there are breakouts. Just be careful out in the sun and everything. Dry skin and certain weather conditions make it worse.

My Niece is 7 and she has eczema real bad where it gets to be red all over and it bdeels, she is continuously itching and scratching. She has to see specialist all the time. She also has so much cream that my sister puts on that its an all day thing. She even takes her creams to school. In the summer it is worse because of the heat, winter isn't that bad its more cooler. She has seen allergist to help with the itching, because some foods can make her itch more. She has tried every cream there is out there for eczema and it doesn't seem to help. We all feel real sad for her cause she is always wearing long pants and long sleeve shirts so she doesn't scratch her skin. She even wears socks on her hands so she can't scratch. From what my brother in law says, it just happens to some kids, it is hereditary. But neither one have it. She also has 2 other kids and neither one has it. So she got it from someone in the family. But no one knows. I wish you luck and hope it doesn't get that bad. Best of luck to your daughter

Hi all. I need 100 people that suffer from eczema for a survey. I don't need address, phone numbers, income, SSN and other personal info.
The questions cover your life with eczema, treatments and maybe a trial of a natural product from Hawaii. Will reward your efforts.
Please email me at email@example.com for more questions or if you want to participate.

I was checking this list as I have recently developed Psoriasis, little patches. But I notice most messages are regarding Eczema. For what its
worth I purchased Essence of Time Night Face Cream and it had lindal peat moss in it from the ancient bogs in England. Marvellous stuff, healed
heat rashes overnight as well as good for the face. My niece has suffered from eczema for some time on her arms and I gave her a jar low and behold it got rid of it. Product's reasonably
priced and I had no trouble having it shipped here to Canada from the US. Of course the company makes no claims as to the healing qualities I order 6 at a time just to slather on
any sun burn or skin problems.

I am 43 yrs and have suffered with exzema all my life, although not as bad now as when iwas younger. after getting through the very tough years of coping with exzema, I am now left with very thin skin on my hands legs and feet through constant use of steroid creams. I feel very self concious and embarassed about the appearance of my skin and a am always hiding my hands and keep my legs covered up. I was wondering if anyone around my age is going through the same thing.

Audreana, I went to the Patient Conference in Portland, Oregon in 2001. I really wish that more eczema sufferers would attend these events. There were not that many people there who had eczema. The information was great that we received.
NEASE (National Eczema Association for Science and Education) There website is http://www.nationaleczema.org/
The conference to my standards was pretty good and it was so comforting meeting two girls my age who had the condition.

can anyone advise me, my daughter who has quite severe eczema and controls it with immunosuppressant drugs has been offered the chance to study in the usa for nine months under a government funded scheme
However the insurance will not cover the cost of her seeing a dermatologist and getting the necessary blood tests and as she will need at least three appointments during her stay the costs are prohibitive
Does anyone know what disabled students in this sort of position can do to help fund these costs?

Hello, i'm 20 years old and from the UK.As part of my university course i'm going to teach english in Valencia, Spain for 10 months in september. My skin problems are generally described as eczema but also as 'polymorphine skin disorder' by a dermotologist-a reaction to extreme sunlight or heat (including changes in temperatures). At the moment my skin is only bad on my hands, but during summer and hot weather it can develop on my face, arms and legs.
Any suggestions/advice of how to control it while abroad???
I know its likely to get worse and i accept this, so will be taking lots of creams have been used in case i need them.My local GP said the Health service in Spain is very good anyway, which is good to know of i need help then.

I live in the Eastern Cape area of South Africa and would like to know if there are any groups/sufferers in this neck of the woods?

Hi! I have a 12-year-old, hockey-playing son with severe eczema (Virtually all over his legs, arms, and body, constant flareups). His main problems are itching and pain, but I think the embarrassment of the massive sores and scabs are bothering him, too. At school, at home, with friends, he is constantly scratching (even with cortosone creams, antihistimines, preventative measures, etc.). We live in dry, cold Colorado Rocky Mtns, and he has been under the care of an Allergist since toddlerhood, and now sees a Dermotologist as well.
I have felt so helpless--in the middle of the night I heard him crying and went up stairs to find the pitiful sight of him weeping while re-applying creams and wrapping more Saran Wrap on himself. He said he was in pain. Is there any evidence/research that indicates that eczema can flare up during hormonal spikes, as in adolescence? Any suggestions? Any support groups in our area? Thanks, lisa

I live in Canada and I currently know of no support groups in Canada, but Bernice Krafchik of the Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto may be able to tell you if there are any.
Also try 416-813-7872
Michelle Carroll, Executive Director
Canadian Eczema Society for Education and Research
(This may be Dr.Krafchik's support group)
USA has the NEASE (National Eczema Association for Science and Education). They have a great newsletter called The Advocate in which the support groups are listed on the back.
I give Kudos to the UK for having so much support for the cause and such an amazing newsletter The Exchange. Thank you, National Eczema Society. I applaud you for your work.

Hi: anyone know of an Irish eczema website??
|By Naminder on Tuesday, June 25, 2002 - 11:53 am:|
this board is for everyone, we won't boot you out just because you're American!! It isn't an Aussie site, we are actually from the UK. Feel free to ask what you like, I'm sure someone will be able to help you.
A good place to start is the Babies section, under People, especiaily 'Sometimes it's never ending'. Lots of advice there.

Hi! I'm interested in online (or other) eczema support groups in the states (U.S.). Does anyone know how I can find such a support group? I've done a web search, but don't seem to come up with anything?! This group is GREAT! Do eczema sufferers/those who care for them, from the U.S. belong to this site? Is it strictly an "Aussie" site? I don't mind being "different," but if it's against the rules... I don't want to get in trouble!? I just need advice- DESPERATELY!!!- for my son, who suffers from severe atopic dermatitis/eczema. If someone can help me out, here, I'd be greatly appreciative! Thanks!!!

I was wondering if it is possible to get you to ask for any people living in
Australia in the Melbourne area to email me at email@example.com. I
am determined to give this support group thing a try. I also think it is
very important to meet these people in person. I know for myself that I do
avoid public situations when I am having a flare-up, so I think it may help
to just let ourselves be seen amongst ourselves. Look fear in the face! If
eczemavoice could help with this I would really appreciate it!

I am sure most of you are aware that we are from the UK.
However a growing number of visitors to this site are not. So, if anyone not from the UK wants to publicize their support groups let us know and we will try to help bring people together.
