ECZEMA IN THE KITCHEN

ECZEMA IN THE KITCHEN

Postby leigh2203 » Sat Jul 18, 2015 4:55 am

Hello everyone,

I did a quick search but nothing came up,
I'm 24 years old from Australia,
I've been travelling pretty much since the end
of school and wish to Persue a career as a chef.
I've been working as a cook since I was 15 on and off
And in the last 3 years ive developed eczema on my hands
It's comes and goes and can get quite bad.
Working an a kitchen where health, safety, cleanliness are all important
and handling acidic ingredients is common eczema is not your friend.

I'm just looking for people that have any kind of chronic eczema type
Condition that have made it as a chef and how they may handle they're
Condition, I understand I can't cure it and I nee to manage it, which I am.
It just seems to be getting worse the older I get. I didn't know what I wanted
To do with my life for years now I'm ready to commit to a job I am passionate
About and damn good at too and eczema is holding me back, honestly if I can't be
A chef and work with food I have no idea what I'm going to do.

So if there is anyone out there who is a chef that manages eczema on a daily basis in a busy kitchen
I'd really appreciate your input, I'm not afraid of hard work and routine, if I can manage this I will at any cost
Except losing a career in hospitality.

Thanks to anyone who has any input :)
